What Beauty Is to Me...Post 1

I woke up this morning really not too sure what I would write … because every thought that comes to mind about beauty is not truth. Which makes me realize how lost I am from truly understanding beauty… and what it really is. Waking up I ran my two miles came home showered and put on every product that I am told to use … to be beautiful.  The reflection in the mirror showed a woman who on the outside had the makeup, hair, and suite perfect for the day… but was that where the beauty lied.
That wasn’t all that I woke up with this morning.  As I layed down to go to bed last night I said a simple prayer. “Lord, lead me through this.” Well he woke me up about midnight last night to the loudest thunderstorm I had heard in a long time. The thunder was so deep and loud, the lightening lit up every part of my room. I laid there realizing my doubt of this journey would not get me anywhere because the work wasn’t going to be done by me.. But by a God, him being most willing to do a powerful work in my life, in the same way he creates these storms.  I was shut down, my motives to find another avenue of control, another way to do me was shook…I could see that God planned this for me. Over this past week and honestly this summer he has been tugging at my heart… tugging in manor I can’t explain, through many events, moments, and journeys.  When the alarm finally went off I could feel this overwhelming outpour… if I could physically describe it...I would say you want to cry like every second... but not in a sad way... But in an overwhelming, pure way! God has this… he has me... he has my heart.
So…What is beauty to me? What is beautiful to me? The first thing that comes to me is the way someone’s eyes light up … because anyone can put on a smile… but it’s in their eyes that you see the beauty. It almost reflects their inside..their Heart!
Reflection is another thought that comes to mind when I describe beauty. This morning my boss Derek, was telling me about the beauty of reflecting on life and the foundations you have. His birthday is today, so we were discussing what comes with ageing and how looking back to see the beauty in it all was needed.
 I believe beauty lies in reflection. Whether you are looking back at a moment; seeing the truth for the first time or soaking it up for a second time.  Beauty lies in a perspective…a state of mind about the moment in time. Unfortunately this world skews our perspectives and truths about beauty. If we really had the understanding of beauty wouldn’t it all  be beautiful. What he created was beautiful...Romans 8:28 comes to mind… ALL THINGS…ALL THINGS ARE BEAUTIFUL! (Keeping in the mirror context) Maybe we are reflecting life off the wrong mirror... Instead we should use God’s reflection; Life through his perspective…is beautiful. Honestly he is beauty… that’s it.. Simply stated…he is. With reflection, God brings opportunity for you to look back at what happened…and sometimes we needed that opportunity to see the real beauty…maybe in a situation we thought was so ugly.  (SO I HOPE THAT MAKES SENSE….I think this is also a journey on learning to write out thoughts)
Light….as a child I was always fascinated with glitter…stars...the way the sun shined on the lake in the summers… it always caught my eye. I often remember driving places and if there was overcast there were spots you could find that the sun would shine through, almost like light beam.  Where the light was darkness did not exist..you could not have both.  So even in the midst of the biggest storms, the darkest clouds… the light was found… Beauty
Beauty to me… the first step of my run, the end of the race. Beauty…under my covers with the windows open and a cool breeze. Beauty…a simple walk. Beauty….my Wednesdays with life group…encouragement of other believers. Beauty…Hot Tea. Beauty… Fall. Beauty…a completed task list.  Beauty…baking or cooking in general..new recipes. Beauty to me… my mommy. Beauty…my dad. Beauty..my brothers… Beauty…my family. Beauty..my sisters in Christ, my brothers in Christ.. Beauty… love. Beauty…cleaning. Beauty..organization. Beauty..new friends.
Beauty…letting him hold my heart.

Project 31

Proverbs 31

    10 Who can find a virtuous wife?
      For her worth is far above rubies.
       11 The heart of her husband safely trusts her;
      So he will have no lack of gain.
       12 She does him good and not evil
      All the days of her life.
       13 She seeks wool and flax,
      And willingly works with her hands.
       14 She is like the merchant ships,
      She brings her food from afar.
       15 She also rises while it is yet night,
      And provides food for her household,
      And a portion for her maidservants.
       16 She considers a field and buys it;
      From her profits she plants a vineyard.
       17 She girds herself with strength,
      And strengthens her arms.
       18 She perceives that her merchandise is good,
      And her lamp does not go out by night.
       19 She stretches out her hands to the distaff,
      And her hand holds the spindle.
       20 She extends her hand to the poor,
      Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.
       21 She is not afraid of snow for her household,
      For all her household is clothed with scarlet.
       22 She makes tapestry for herself;
      Her clothing is fine linen and purple.
       23 Her husband is known in the gates,
      When he sits among the elders of the land.
       24 She makes linen garments and sells them,
      And supplies sashes for the merchants.
       25 Strength and honor are her clothing;
      She shall rejoice in time to come.
       26 She opens her mouth with wisdom,
      And on her tongue is the law of kindness.
       27 She watches over the ways of her household,
      And does not eat the bread of idleness.
       28 Her children rise up and call her blessed;
      Her husband also, and he praises her:
       29 “ Many daughters have done well,
      But you excel them all.”
       30 Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing,
      But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.
       31 Give her of the fruit of her hands,
      And let her own works praise her in the gates.

He Thought of Me!

Ephesians 1:13 - And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having Believed you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit...

Our glorious walk with God began with an act of faith that brought us into relationship with Jesus Christ as our Savior but it doesn't end there... Having believed in Christ we've been called to continue believing all he came to do and say!!

My thoughts these past two days, have been in focus of my walk, from my past to now. These two comments above really stuck out to me as I realized that I have believed in Christ... Im called to continue.. daily walk,continue to move, continue to follow... its not a i already did that im good.. its a daily choice to take up my cross... and what a Great God to continue to remind me!!

How is God moving you to a place of present Faith, "Present Participle Faith" You believed in him, are you believing him? Something I was challenged to do... Daily I am repeating theses bullets...

1. God Is Who He Says He Is
2. God can do what He says he Can Do!
3. I am Who God Says I am!
4.I can do all things through Christ
5. God's Word is alive and active in me!

Pretty Sure I love these two girls!! Truly a blessing in my life... Sisters in Christ!

Greatest Joy

Woke up in manhattan today! Joined my church family at Faith and enjoyed an incredible worship service. I am truly captivated by what God is doing in my heart these past few weeks. I wish i could blog everything. He really has come to show me a lot of areas in my life he wants full control of! Today in church we talked about just that... Being captivated by the Spirit and not by the Flesh. That these two things are against one another, opposing each other.  That the things and patterns of the flesh do not leave to a life of joy but of destruction. Oh how I am seeing how easy i forget that, and how i listen to that lie and follow my flesh! But God is faithful!!

Today john and I went and got some sweet teas after  church! Barbecuing for lunch and I think I may challenge him to monopoly!!

My internship has been incredible. I have created so many great relationships with my staff! There are so many stories and backgrounds. Some of them are refuges from countries where God is not mentioned... a life that I couldn't even picture. They are all so different yet we are one family working together!

Love the interns! Jess and Robyn have been a fun to get to know! And our Managers are really great!!

Moment of the Week:

Jessica - What is the word for word in spanish?
Dee- Palabra?
Jessica - No the word for Word!
Dee - Palabra
Jessica - How do you spell that
Dee P..A..L...A

Dee W..O...R...D
(so funny, Jessica does make us laugh often, you might have to be there)

My KC Family I am staying with have been a joy! I made them some fruit salad and cinnamon bread before I left! Cathy is off to a mission trip, and Peter continues to challenge me in our Spiritual Discussion! They have been a true blessing!

I miss my family though!! OH SO MUCH!! I am hoping to have a few days soon to get away with them!! Fathers Day is coming up and I am working on a gift for dad :) He has been such a Rock for our familY! I love yoU!!
